Seeing as The Best of the Sports Rant has been constantly searched by users of this site and has been, also, continually in the upper half of articles read, I figured we shell out a Part 2. Well, not exactly a part two because when I went nosing around YouTube.com, I found some video that is just priceless but not exactly a rant. So, while it might stray a little in consistency, it doesn’t stray in hilarity. One of these videos is truly one of the funniest things ever put to film and another one shows how quickly the human psyche can snap (in a funny way). So, with no real discernable introduction to this article, let’s get it on. Check out this link for the first installment.

Denny & The Cards
Dennis Green has long been known as a good football coach and a good man. He was the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings for years before he was run out of town in a questionable fashion. Unfortunately for Dennis, after a year away from the game he decided to be the guy to try and rebuild the Arizona Cardinals, one of the true laughingstocks in all of American professional sports franchises. While the Cardinal faithful (all 14 of them) were probably elated at the fact that the club was finally getting a top notch coach, the rest of the country was left scratching their heads. Why would a guy like this, with character and accustomed to winning, take on this losing job? And better yet, how long will it take until he blows a gasket due to the talent and mistakes that continually follow this team around. Well, it didn’t take too long. After the Cardinals were embarrassing the Bears on Monday Night Football through three quarters, the Bears came back to get an improbable win in the fourth quarter and it lead directly to the media room after the game when this little gem was delivered. The best part about this rant is that it starts out so smoothly and then it just erupts into a non-sensical spree.

Just Mora Being Mora
In the first sports rant, I had the Dictator of Rants for Life, one Jim Mora, owner of the uber-legendary Playoffs!?! Rant as one of the clips. Many forget that Mr. Mora Sr. honed his people skills in the fine city of New Orleans before he got to Indianapolis. Mora, never known to be a fan of the media, delivered his own coronation with this lively dissection of his teams play and, if memory serves, didn’t coach in the Big Easy after this little gem. Hey, is there anything you can say about Mora that he hasn’t already said himself?

Hal McRae Dazzles
One of my favorite moments in baseball is when a team is going through a particularly bad streak and the beat writers for that team begin to ask questions about the manager’s ability to, um, think. Usually started off with “why didn’t you take (pitcher X) out before…” or “why didn’t you pinch-hit for…” The wheels always come right off and such was the case with the Royals skipper at the time, Hal McRae. In this clip, make sure you listen to the last line McRae utters as it is just classic. On a side note, McRae may have had a chance as a pair’s figure skater or a gymnast with the way he moves in this clip.

JohnCalipari & John Cheney in Something’s Shocking
I really wanted to add this clip in the first article, but I couldn’t find any video that didn’t look like it was shot by some European basketball fan and the audio was terrible at best. Thank you YouTube! The man who sits atop the Memphis basketball landscape at this period of time was involved in one of the most bizarre, awkward and raucous media events in modern times when John Cheney stormed into his post game press conference to confront Coach Cal on, well, we’re still not certain. Cheney had been taking a lot of heat that year and he had just relinquished the reins of the Atlantic-10 basketball supremacy to Cal’s UMass team, but this was over-the-top in any arena not hosted by Bill Maher.

Samuel L Jackson (Jules) & Chris Chelios Junior Hockey Short
This clip I came by while searching for all of the others. I don’t know who made it, how they made it or why. All I know is it is some of the funniest three minutes I have ever spent in my life. Whoever thought of this should have a bronze statue made of them. Make sure you’ve got this gem turned down as there are some expletives (not shocking when you see that Samuel L Jackson is in the clip) and to whomever is responsible- thank you very much!

Asheville Tourists Manager Joe Mikulik’s Yard Sale
As far as sports rants go, this one may not be a guy losing his head with his mouth; no, this guy is more a full body type guy. I know this clip has been played over and over by SportsCenter the night it happened, but if you missed it, it’s well worth the few minutes of watching. Asheville Tourists manager Joe Mikulik had apparently seen enough of the umpiring that day that he felt compelled to say and do something. Actually, he did a lot of things. The best part is, just when you think he’s going to retreat, he comes back for more. It’s video at its highest comedy. How the umpires didn’t start laughing is beyond me, but they didn’t.
