Sauces, a hip new eatery with a chic, relaxed style has opened up in Downtown Memphis along historic and newly renovated Main Street. Serving updated cuisine inspired by traditional American recipes, Sauces will soon be one of the most happening places in town (95 South Main; between Gayoso and Union Avenue; 901.473.9573).
With a fun, flexible and accommodating menu, Sauces' tag line is "our plate, your canvas." Rosemary Basil Halibut, Pork Dijonaise and Thai Grouper are just a few "Our Plate" entrees. "Your Canvas" is for the artistic diner who can choose from an array of perfectly prepared fish pairing them with one of the restaurant's featured sauces.
"After fifteen years working in the restaurant world, I've seen
patrons come up with some interesting creations," explains co-owner Kevin Sheaffer. "In most restaurants alterations to a chef's creation is an insult, but at Sauces, we encourage our diners to be creative! After all it's our plate, your canvas."
The creative atmosphere of Sauces is also enhanced by the brilliantly renovated 100-year old space. With sharp stimulating colors and soft lighting, Sauces provides the perfect spot for a quick lunch at the community table or a long, leisurely dinner in one of the intimate corners.
"From the floating bar top that cantilevers for ease of dining to the purse hooks located on the underside of the community table, we tried to anticipate our guests' needs," says co-owner Andrea Deeb. "We wanted to create a relaxed and comfortable environment that encourages people to sit back and experience Downtown Memphis for what it is today – an exciting and constantly evolving place."
Furthermore, with nothing on the menu priced at more than $16, the cheerful mood of the restaurant extends well past the walls of the space and into diners' wallets.
Open for lunch and dinner Tuesdays through Sundays, Sauces offers an extensive wine list with an even more extensive mojito menu. Reservations are not required but are encouraged; Sauces accepts all major credit cards. Private dining room available for large groups.
Sauces will host a grand opening party Thursday, January 18, 2007 from 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM.
