Art, Beer And Yoga- The Dixon In September

Art on Tap 2006 Friday, September 8, 6 - 9 pm

With 150 beers to try, great food, and music why wouldn't you be there? Don’t miss the 11th annual Art on Tap featuring great food, live entertainment and a larger-than-life beer-tasting event featuring selections of microbrews, imports and domestic beers provided by local distributors A.S. Barboro, DBI Distributing, D. Canale Beverages Inc. and Southwestern Distributing as well as 2 local brewers Bosco's Brewery Restaurant, and the Bluff City Brewers and Connoisseurs. Art on Tap is sponsored by Roadshow MINI and the Media sponsors are FM-100 and Memphis Magazine. All guests must be 21 or older to attend.

Advance tickets for Art on Tap must be purchased by 5 p.m. Wednesday, September 6. FREE for Young at Art Members , $15 for Dixon members, and $20 for non members. All gate tickets will be $25.

Yoga in the Gardens Returns Wednesdays, September 6 - October 25, 6 -7 pm

Get re-energized at the Dixon! Learn the basics of yoga and put your spirit in touch with nature during Yoga in the Gardens. Students will learn core movement principles that form the foundation of a yoga practice, as well as breathing and relaxation exercises. As they move through a sequence of postures with mindful attention to breathing, participants build strength, promote flexibility, develop awareness and move energy through the body.Led by a certified instructor from Midtown Yoga, a Wednesday evening class will be offered.

All yoga classes take place in the Hughes Pavilion. The facility is encased by glass with views of the South Lawn and Woodland gardens.

Beginner level class. Each session includes eight classes, classes last one hour. Dixon members: $100 per session; nonmembers: $125. Classes are limited to twenty people. Please contact Maggie Catmur to register or for more information at 761-5250, ext 103 or email mcatmur@dixon.org

Terrace Cafe at the Dixon September 12 - 15 and 19 - 22 Seating from 11:30 am - 12:15 pm

Enjoy a delicious lunch in the Hughes Pavilion surrounded by the Dixon's lush woodland gardens. As an added feature, Laurelwood Shopping Center will orchestrate an elegant tableside fashion show presented by the center's boutiques, provide musical entertainment, and offer a drawing each day for a $25 gift certificate from Laurelwood Shopping Center.

Cost is $20 per person, includes admission to The Artful Teapot: 20th Century Expressions from the Kamm Collection,tableside fashion show from Laurelwood Shopping Center and music. Seating can accommodate up to ten people per table, tables will be set according to number in party. Space is limited.
